A curly maple jewelry box with three drawers and a deep-blue epoxy waterfall spilling over the side into a pool.
On this box I did something I've never seen - I bent the epoxy while it was still curing, yielding an organic shape with no pour lines or cracks.
The first photos show the form I built around the box — a curved mold, tape and foam — to hold the epoxy in place as it flows over the edge and cures. Most of that work is invisible in the finished piece. The finished box pairs rippling curly-maple drawer fronts framed in dark walnut with brass knobs and dark-lined compartments inside. The blue river runs down the middle of the lid and off the side.
