A maple picnic table with a hand-built starburst medallion and curved purpleheart and walnut inlays running the length of the top.
The top is pale, figured maple edged in walnut. At its center is a square medallion I assembled from wedges of contrasting woods, with ribbons of purpleheart and walnut sweeping out from it, so the whole table reads like a sunburst from any end.
The garage photos from April 2023 show the top coming together under a deep, glossy varnish finish. The outdoor shots show it paired with the matching bench I built, with a varnished wood seat, on a dark-metal base.
