A laminated penguin whose striped body is stitched together from maple, walnut, purpleheart and more.
This was my first carve. Strips of different woods run head to foot, interrupted by oval inlays on the belly and sides, before the whole form is carved and sanded smooth. The head and beak are finished in a smoky dark gray with copper-toned eyes.
A playful companion piece to Elvis the Dolphin.
